Science is the subject most families underestimate until they are staring at a prelim paper with red ink all over it. It looks manageable — there are only 15 topics, the questions seem straightforward, children often feel confident after revising. But PSLE Science is deceptive. Booklet B questions do not ask students to repeat facts. They put those facts into unfamiliar situations and ask students to reason through them. A child who has memorised that alveoli have a large surface area will still lose marks if they cannot explain why surface area matters for gas exchange, or what would happen if the alveolar walls thickened.
ScienceStar was built to close exactly this gap — between knowing facts and being able to use them. Every quiz goes beyond simple recall. Every article explains the logic behind the science. Every model answer shows not just what the right answer is, but why it earns marks and what the marking scheme is looking for.
The Level Check is where most families start — a quick diagnostic that shows which topics your child actually understands versus which ones they think they understand. It takes 15 minutes and gives you a clear picture of where the real gaps are before spending hours revising the wrong things. The Diagram Labelling tool covers the 10 diagrams that appear most frequently in PSLE — respiratory system, digestive system, flower parts, water cycle, electrical circuits — with instant feedback so students know immediately whether they are using the right scientific term. The Fair Test designer walks students through planning experiments step by step — consistently one of the hardest Booklet B question types and one of the most predictable.
The Past Year Question bank lets students practise with actual PSLE-style questions organised by topic. Instead of doing a full paper and hoping the right topics come up, they can drill the specific topics where they are losing marks. The Data Interpretation practice covers graphs, tables, bar charts and line graphs — all with the structured answer format that earns marks in Booklet B.
Every example uses Singapore contexts — Angsana trees for wind dispersal, the MRT for friction and motion, HDB flats for heat conduction, NEWater for the water cycle. When exam questions use familiar contexts, students can focus all their cognitive effort on the science. When the context is unfamiliar, they spend mental energy just parsing the situation. Singapore-specific examples also help students notice these topics in their everyday environment, reinforcing learning far more effectively than abstract examples. All content is aligned to the MOE 2026 Primary Science syllabus. Cells has been removed from the question banks. Energy Conversion content has been added.
Do I need an account to use ScienceStar?
No account, no sign-up, no email required. Open the site and start. Quiz progress is saved in your browser locally — nothing is stored on our servers.
Is there a mobile app?
ScienceStar works in any mobile browser. On the PSLE revision hub pages you can add the site to your home screen (look for "Add to Home Screen" in your browser menu) for a one-tap icon and full-screen experience without downloading anything from an app store.
My child is in P3 — is it too early?
P3 is actually the ideal time to start. The P3 quiz bank covers all P3 topics at exactly the right depth for P3 school assessments. Starting early builds good study habits, gets students comfortable with the question style, and means they arrive at PSLE with years of solid foundational knowledge rather than trying to cram everything in P6.
How is ScienceStar different from tuition?
Tuition centres are teacher-led and scheduled. ScienceStar is self-paced, available at any hour, and completely free. It works best as a complement to school learning — a place to practise independently, identify weak spots, and drill specific skills. Some families use it instead of tuition. Some use it alongside. The goal is the same: helping children understand Science well enough to explain it, not just recall it.
